The NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship, offered by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS), provides a fully funded 5-month residency for scholars, artists, writers, and journalists who cannot continue their work safely in their home countries due to war, conflict, or restrictions on freedom. The fellowship allows them to pursue their work in a secure and supportive academic environment.

Open to candidates from all countries.
Scientific proposals: At least 3 years of research experience since earning a PhD.
Artistic or journalistic proposals: A PhD is not required.
Project must be within the Humanities or Social Sciences.
Strong command of the English language.
Must be available 4 days per week during the fellowship.
