The Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) is calling on young innovators for the 2025 Young Environmentalist Innovation Challenge (YEIC). Supported through the generous gift of Mackenzie Scott, YEIC aims to nurture action-oriented youth committed to environmental conservation and sustainable management.
This is the third edition of the YEIC fund, focused on “Scaling Innovations for Environmental Impact”, targeting solutions that have already demonstrated success at the community level and are ready to expand reach and impact.
Category 1: Individual Innovators / Youth Champions
Grant Amount: Up to KES 1,500,000
Eligibility: Individuals or groups (not formally registered) aged 15–35 with tested and impactful environmental innovations
Category 2: Youth-led Organisations
Grant Amount: Up to KES 5,000,000
Eligibility: Registered youth-led organisations/companies (e.g., Civil Society Organisations, Company Limited by Shares or Guarantee) with scalable environmental projects
Important: Applicants must reside in Kenya and implement their projects within the country.
Applications Open: 14th August 2025
Applications Close: 30th September 2025
Review & Site Visits: By March 2026
Notification of Awards: By June 2026
